Nationalpark

Hohe Tauern

The Hohe Tauern National Park is one of the most magnificent high mountain landscapes in the world. The altitude levels from the valleys to the summit regions of the three thousand meter peaks offer habitat for an extraordinary variety of species. In addition to countless plants, around 15,000 animal species live here, originally from the Central Asian cold steppes, the Arctic or even Southern Europe. This unique ecosystem must be protected at all costs.

At the National Park Center in Mittersill - only a good 10 minutes drive away - you can get an overview of the National Park, its "inhabitants". The 1,800 m² Hohe Tauern National Park Worlds are among the most modern National Park Centers in Europe. Visitors walk through 10 fascinating natural areas one after the other and learn about and understand the extraordinary diversity of the largest protected area in the Alps. In the spectacular 360° panoramic cinema you are right in the middle of the Hohe Tauern National Park. The "exhibition to touch" is a perfect all-weather program for the whole family and is waiting to be explored by you.

Meet a Ranger: Learn more about the natural resources of the Hohe Tauern National Park and get to know its unique animal and plant world. Get to know the people who protect our national park and learn how to preserve these treasures for future generations.

Not without reason are the national park rangers the figurehead of the national park - after all, they know the protected area like the back of their hand. During the summer months (July - September) you have the opportunity to meet and accompany the rangers in the National Park valleys (Habachtal, Untersulzbachtal & Obersulzbachtal).

Discover this fascinating wilderness in the middle of Europe during your holiday in Neukirchen! You can find more about the wilderness area "Sulzbachtäler" here.
